Privacy Policy.
How Koelnmesse Inc. handles personal data on this website, and the rights you hold.
Last updated 6 August 2026. This policy covers the Handicraft Worldwide website, handicraft-worldwide.com, only.
The short version. This website is a signpost to our shows. It does not use analytics, does not record your visit, and sets no tracking cookies. The only personal data we receive through it is what you choose to send us by email. When you register for one of our shows, you do that on the show’s own website, under its own privacy policy.
Who We Are
Koelnmesse Inc., a Delaware corporation, 8770 West Bryn Mawr Avenue, Suite 1300, Chicago, IL 60631, is the controller of the personal data described here. Email info@hh-americas.com or call +1 773 326 9920.
What This Covers
This policy applies to handicraft-worldwide.com, the portfolio website for our family of craft trade shows and consumer festivals. Registration, ticketing and event apps live on the show websites and are governed there, not here: see the h+h americas privacy policy and the h+h americas Fall privacy policy, and the Fiber+Fabric Craft Festival website. h+h cologne is run by Koelnmesse GmbH from hh-cologne.com.
Data We Receive
- Email you send us. The contact and newsletter forms on this site open your own email program rather than submitting to a server. If you send the email, we receive your email address and whatever you wrote, the same as any email you might send us directly.
- Technical logs. Our hosting and content delivery provider processes IP addresses and request data as part of serving the site and protecting it from abuse. We do not use this data to identify or profile visitors.
- Third-party content. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and images from our content delivery providers. Your browser sends its IP address to those services to fetch the files. No cookies are set by these requests. Show videos are hosted on YouTube and load only if you press play; see Embedded Video below.
What We Do Not Do
This website runs no visitor analytics and no session recording. Your visit is not measured, recorded or replayed. The only third party that can see you at all is YouTube, and only if you press play on a show video. We set no advertising cookies, we do not build advertising profiles, we do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. If we ever add analytics to this site, we will update this policy and the Cookie Notice first, and ask for your consent before anything runs.
Embedded Video
The Show Recaps page carries show videos hosted on YouTube. They are behind a still image and are not loaded until you press play, so nothing is requested from YouTube or Google unless you choose to watch. When you do, the video loads from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, which does not use cookies to build an advertising profile. Google receives your IP address and device information in order to deliver the video, and may store data on your device for playback. That processing is Google’s, under its own privacy policy.
Newsletter
If you ask to join our mailing list, we use your email address to send you news about our shows and the craft industry. Every message carries an unsubscribe link, in line with CAN-SPAM, and you can also unsubscribe by emailing us.
How Long We Keep It
- Correspondence is kept as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry, and then deleted in the normal course of mailbox housekeeping.
- Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Addresses with no engagement for 36 months are removed from active marketing.
- One deliberate exception. If you unsubscribe or ask us not to contact you, we keep a minimal record of that request, your email address and the date, indefinitely, so that we can keep honouring it. That record is used for nothing else.
International Transfers
This site is run from the United States and our data is processed here. Koelnmesse Inc. is part of a German group, and some of our providers process data in the European Economic Area and in other countries outside it. Where personal data moves out of the EEA or the UK, we rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, with the UK Addendum where applicable.
Legal Bases
For people in the EEA and UK: we rely on consent for the newsletter, legitimate interests to answer your enquiries and keep our systems secure, and legal obligation where the law requires us to keep or disclose something.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, receive a portable copy, withdraw consent, and not be discriminated against for exercising any of these. These rights are available under the GDPR and UK GDPR, and under US state privacy laws including those of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut and Texas. We apply them to everyone who asks, rather than checking which state you live in first.
To exercise any of them, email info@hh-americas.com. We will verify who you are before we act, and we will respond within the time the applicable law allows. If you are in the EEA or UK and you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to your local supervisory authority.
Children
This website is aimed at the craft trade and at adult festival visitors. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18, and we delete it if we discover we have.
Other Sites
This site exists to point you at our shows, so nearly every path through it leads to another website: show sites, venues, partners and social platforms. Once you leave, their privacy practices apply, not ours.
Changes
We update this policy when what we do changes. The date at the top tells you when it was last revised. If a change materially affects how we handle your personal data, we will make that clear rather than rely on you noticing the date.
